UCVF_URBAN CANADIAN VAPOR FOREST

SHIP POINT POPUP - VICTORIA

The design draws its inspiration by Canadian natural elements, a primordial waterfront, a simple system made by maple trees, water, and the moisture that the forest creates, like a softly mist.
The combination of these elements gives life to ‘’Urban Canadian Vapor Forest" which recreates the life cycle of water in a forest of metal poles, a rainwater collection system allows vaporization through nozzle and a pump powered by a photovoltaic floor.

It can be mounted and dismantled rapidly and the most important thing is that the installation will be recycled in all the components; it is an eco friendly energy system with the aim of creating a landmark and a space where people will enjoy it.
This project has the objective to create a new image of Victoria, an exclusive and unique landmark that glance to a eco friendly Victoria involved in its new urban nature.

Thanks to the technologies available today in the field of environmental sustainability, the pavilion is completely autonomous. It does not need water and electrical connections. In fact, the functioning of the LED lighting and the VAPORIZATION is guaranteed by the photovoltaic system, which was specially dimensioned according to the amount of energy required and the sun exposure of the City of Victoria. Even the water supply that feeds the vaporization occurs through environmentally sustainable and self-energy concepts, as is done by collecting rainwater. The solar energy captured by the panels is converted, so that it power all electrical parts of the system.

The vaporization is not continous but is programmable for a certain number of jets per day. The timer can be set by the city administration. At times when the system is “off” the energy and water are stored, respectively, using batteries and tanks.
The pavilion presents itself not only as “a place to be” but as a real interactive element that looks for a physical and perceptive relationship within the community.
