TIR_ROCK HUB

THE BIG DENSE EMPTY

How to effectively solve the problem of traffic in an urban area where the same percentage will grow in the coming decades? How an intermodal hub may forget to be an interchange of flows enabling the further development of its activities on the sidelines of traffic?

How to create an intermodal hub like reference point for the population but also a meeting point where the intermodal exchange is not the first reason for utilization?

The Tirana Multimodal Station becomes a system who mixes fun, culture, shopping and outdoor activities manteining a new indoor green landscape, big mass building and inside three truncks of pyramid who bring lights from the the roof over the rail platform, are linked with the crown with three towers in Tirana city symbol.

Rock Hub is designed to optimize the interchange between each types of mobility, thanks to density of the building that try to have a compact organization and organize a system of function in the same volumetry: train station, bus station, offices, shops, restaurants and coffee bar. Rock Hub will be a gravity center in the west side of Tirana.

The building is courageously in connection with the territory, in constant dialogue with the urban texture, but also with nature and its limits. Rock Hub becomes a landmark visible from the mountains, but providing a total permeability on the ground level for people who live in the surrounding areas and from the main roads from south. New perspectives, new panoramas for Tirana can be watched from the top levels, the roof will create a lot of possibility to walk; thanks to the slopes and the green areas people enjoy the view.Bicycle is not only to be used out side but also inside thr building; green levels and slopes can make possible to live a bike experience in the building and rapidly run to the city center or to the mountains.
