CES_CENATE SOPRA

This design approach is motivated by architectural assessments that aim to create a building with a clear modern setting, however, that relates on the typical buildings of this small town of Bergamo area, purpouse of a harmonious integration into the urban center's profile, and presenting architectural features such as to make it immediately obvious to the public nature and the institutional acceptation.

The volumes were born from wanting to be a link with the existing residential fabric, creating a new fulcrum for Cenate Sopra, with spaces and paths open to different initiatives of the local community. The spatial position of the three volumes recreates a closed space and become the center of the perspective cone view of the main street of the town becoming a continuous space between the square and surrounding public spaces.

From the outside the architectural simplicity gives an easily readeble, commercial services have direct access from the square, but spaces such as the library and the auditorium are developed on the first floor.

The three volumes have the aim of characterizing the space so as to increase the spatial dynamic avoiding creating an exaggerated size building that fills most of the space available for a square directly connected with the front of the church.

The project thus becomes part of the places of belonging by binding to existing buildings, extending the provision of public services and increasing the quality of life of residents.
